Double Digits!

How far along:  10 weeks

Babies are the size of:  Prunes.  Their body length will almost double in the next three weeks - crazy!
What's happening: Baby has working arm joints, cartilage and bones are forming.  The vital organs are fully developed and they're starting to function.  Fingernails and hair are starting to appear, too.  Plus, they're swallowing and kicking in there already.  If you could, you'd be able to see the clear outline of the spine. Spinal nerves stretch out from the spinal cord.
Weight change: +2lbs already...
Maternity Clothes Nope, just whatever is comfortable, as in my sweats, all the time.
Stretch Marks: Nope
Sleep:  Exhausted and not sleeping well many nights.
Symptoms: More of the same - exhausted, bloated, sore boobs (especially getting up from lying down), easily short of breath, some bouts of nausea but (knock on wood) it hasn't been too bad. And irritable, really irritable.
Best Moment of the Week:  It hasn't been a great week....having KD for dinner last night??
Miss Anything: Uninterrupted sleep and after a stressful freaking week, I want a wine spritzer, or three.
Cravings/Aversions:  The aforementioned KD and candy, like 5 cent candy from 7-11.
Showing Yet: The bloat is real, but it is getting harder to suck it in.  I mostly just look pudgy, flowy tops are my friend.
Mood: Seriously stressed the fuck out.  I was already stressing about finances with having no mat leave compensation and two babies coming, but this week my work situation is basically imploding and I am honestly not sure if I will have a job to come back to.  I am terrified about the prospect of being a new mom of twins, exhausted and dealing with all of that while putting together a resume and job hunting.

On a separate but also stressful note, Abby is neurotic and crazy and not at all in a funny, haha, way.  Ever since the May long weekend's fireworks, she has been progressively getting more and more nuts.  We are at the point right now where she's nervous and skiddish with any kind of loud, especially high pitched noises and especially if she's outside.  She refuses to go on walks, from our house.  It has only got this bad in the last week, we used to walk every day at lunch around the complex and now she just won't have any of it.  She sits down, refuses to move forward and starts pulling like mad to go back home.  We are taking her on Monday to the trainer we did puppy classes with and hopefully we can start to make some progress, or figure out how to, because this is getting crazy and really frustrating.

Part three - told you it's been a week.  I have had a few family members really pressuring me to share our news with an aunt here and an uncle there.  I don't understand why they don't seem to be hearing me when I say I'm not ready yet.  They all knew much sooner than they normally would because of our extenuating (read: IVF) circumstances.  I will tell them when they can share the news, until then, please stop trying to convince me to tell more people when I'm not ready.
What I am Looking Forward to:  Any little bit of this stress not feeling so overwhelming.

10 Weeks!

  1. Hi love! I am so happy you are moving right along and are in double digits! I'm so sorry about the work situation though! I'm really surprised by that, I hope everything works out. (I'm gonna go ahead and assume the blame is on your craptastic boss.) And I'm so sorry about Abby! I hope the trainer will be able to help her. I'm sure it is beyond frustrating. And if she doesn't go for walks anymore where the heck is she gonna "go"?? I hope she gets over it :-/
    Hang in there... <3

  2. First yay for double digits!! Second, you do not look pudgy at all, you look great! And third, I'm so sorry you're having such a rough week. That is so stressful with your job and I hope that you get everything figured out. Poor Abby! I hope working with the trainer helps. I do have some friends who have their pets on anti-anxiety meds, I wonder if that would help if the trainer isn't able to give you any tips. And I'm sorry your family is not being understanding. It's your news and you should share it whenever you feel comfortable. Whether that's now, in a couple weeks, or after the babies are here.

Hang in there! Hopefully things will start looking up soon.

    1. Thanks Packer :) Someone else recently mentioned anti-anxiety meds to me also. I am keeping it in mind as a possibility, but I would prefer to work on behaviour modification first and hope that does the trick. If not though, we'll definitely talk to the vet about it.

  3. Oh hun, that week is more than deserving of a drink or three. I'm so sorry :(

That is so stressful about your job. And jeez Abby! Great big hugs sweetie. Hopefully next week things will turn right around!

  4. YAY for double digits! (1) I think you look fabulous! (2) I am sorry to hear about Abby. That has got to be hard. Hopefully the trainer will help. (3) I am so sorry you are so stressed. I can only imagine how stressful it is worrying about everything you are dealing with, plus planning for TWO babies. Try to do something for yourself, even if it is just going for a walk to clear your head. Take care of yourself, momma. I am always here if you need to talk/vent/etc. :) Wishing you the best, always!

  5. Woo hoo for double digits! You look so good! Oh wow, I am so sorry work has been stressful and that has to be so tough with Abby! I hope the trainer is able to help you get her back on track. As far as family pushing you to tell people; packer is right, you go with what you feel comfortable with and try not to let their prodding get to you. ((HUGS))

  6. Oh jaytee, I'm so sorry about all of these stresses being put on you. I'm not too familiar with dogs, but I hope a trainer can help sort our Abby's behavior. As for family, I totally get wanting to wait. I waited until 14+ weeks to start sharing so I say do what's best for you and when you're ready, that's when you share and no sooner. As for your job, I'm so sorry that it's stressing you out, both the day to day stuff and the potential job hunt. I really hope that the day to day stuff calms down a bit and that your job situation works about after mat leave. I'm thinking of you all the time and your beautiful prune babies. And thank you for the pic! <3

  8. Yay for double digits! Does KD stand for Kraft Dinner? If so, mac and cheese was pretty much my favorite thing during first tri too.

I'm sorry that Abby is having a hard time right now. Bear usually goes through something like that during and after fireworks/rainy season, but luckily he gets over it quickly. I hope she's feeling more relaxed soon!

I'm so sorry about work too. I can totally related to how stressful it is to not know whether or not you'll be working and to be having two babies must be extra tough. I hope that things get back to normal soon. I know you'll make the best of whatever happens though <3
